The University of Texas at Brownsville Police Department (UTB) needs your assistance with identifying two individuals who are persons of interest in connection to a burglary of vehicle and aggravated assault that occurred on the campus of The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. On April 7, 2008 a UTB/TSC student and his wife returning to their vehicle, discovered a Hispanic male was inside the vehicle. The student attempted to restrain the suspect while his wife called UTB Police. The suspect broke away from the student and swung at him with a screwdriver before running into a waiting vehicle. The suspects left the area in a late model Toyota truck that a witness had seen circling the parking lot earlier. UTB Police is asking that anyone with information on the identity of the persons or vehicle described below contact the UTB Police Department. Vehicle: Late model Toyota truck (1990 – 1995 model) possibly silver or light blue in color. First suspect (Driver): Early 20s’ heavy set Hispanic male with dark complexion and short black hair. Second suspect (Passenger): Early 20s’ Hispanic male, approximately 5’5” in height with slim built and short black hair.
