Two computers containing more than 2,500 student grades, social security numbers, student I.D.’s, and other information were stolen from a UT Arlington faculty member’s home last month. There is now a concern that this information could be used for identify theft and other illegal activities.

This incident should serve as a reminder that social security numbers, student grades/I.D.’s/gender/nationality/citizenship/race/ethnicity, and student class schedules are protected information and should be safeguarded. Please follow proper procedures for protecting this information and let’s learn from this incident.

If you have any questions regarding the protection of information, please contact Doug Arney, SSN Coordinator, at 882-7318.
