Checklist For New Hires

Visit Human Resources (HR) before you begin working to complete the requirement employment packet.
Bring valid identification (see list of authorized IDs).
If you are an international student, bring your visa along with the Authorization to Work form.  The Authorization to Work form will be issued by the Student Development Specialist in the Multicultural Student Services, located in North Hall 103H, when verifiying your status as a student.
Bring a Resume/Vitae
Bring a list of 3 references that are not related to you.  The list should include the reference’s full name, address and telephone number.  Remember, your immediate supervisor and instructors who recommend you for a position may serve as references.
Bring a list of previous employment with their physical address, immediate supervisor’s name, and contact number.
Bring a list of schools you have attended, this list should include the high school and any other colleges and universities you have attended.  The list should include the school name, address, telephone number, dates of attendance, and any degree awarded to you.  Include any certifications received.
Bring a brief description (3 lines or less) of the qualities, abilities, and skills that qualify you for employment.
Bring a copy of an unofficial transcript for those positions that require a degree.  Also, be prepared to request an official transcript to be sent to HR within 21 days of employment.  This applies to regular and temporary positions.

College Workstudy

  1. College Work-study Personal Data Worksheet has been processed and approved by Financial Aid (Please type).

  2. Employee has completed all required personnel forms in Human Resources.

Temporary Staff

  1. MOE has been prepared and approved by all required (Employing Department, Budget Office, and Human Resources).

  2. Employee has completed all required personnel forms in Human Resources.

  3. For Adjunct Faculty and Temporary Staff positions that require a degree, a transcript has been requested to be sent to Human Resources.

Regular Employees

  1. MOE has been prepared along with all hiring action forms required (i.e., Search Committee Report, Non-Discrimination Form, application of person being recommended for position, along with other applications that were received).

  2. MOE has been approved by all required (Employing Department, Budget Office, Vice President (if applicable), and Human Resources.

  3. Employee has completed all required personnel forms in Human Resources.

Notes:

  1. Remind temporary hourly employees to complete their timecard on a daily basis and submit it according to the due dates.  Give them a copy of the schedule for their information.

  2. Employees who are not available to sign their timecard, can be signed by the appropriate supervisor (sign their name by you); and make sure that the employee gets a copy when they return so that if there are any discrepancies, the employee can bring them up to you.

  3. Under no circumstances should a new employee in your department begin work until all required forms are completed.

  4. Remind all new regular full-time employees to complete the benefit forms and return them to Human Resources as soon as possible or by the schedule date that was given to them.

  5. Remind all new regular full-time employees to attend the new employee orientation and all required workshops, seminars, training, etc.
