What
is the Sting Card?
It is your new Student ID card that will serve as your library card and
provide electronic access to your available money or funds at your Wells Fargo
College Checking account. This will include electronic disbursements of
your financial aid.

What if I already have an existing Wells Fargo account?
You can link your new Sting card to your existing account by visiting
one the five Wells Fargo branches in Brownsville.

What do I need to open an account?
You will need two forms of identification. (1) State Driver’s License or State ID
and (2) Social Security Card, Valid Credit Card, Military ID, Passport,
Matricula Consular, existing student ID or resident alien card.

Can I open an account online?
Not yet, but it is in the works. As soon as it is available, an
announcement will be made through The Collegian.

Where can I use the card?
You can use your new Sting Card at any business that accepts PIN-based
transactions. For you to enter your code, businesses must have a PIN pad
that connects to their existing credit card machine.
For example, Wal-Mart, H.E.B., Target and Whataburger are some popular
places that accept electronic cards that use a Personal Identification
Number (PIN) pad for transaction processing.

How can I get my financial aid faster?
By signing up for electronic deposit of your financial aid to your Wells
Fargo College Checking account, the money will be sent electronically to
your account - no more waiting in line to get your check or to cash your
check.

Is the Sting Card only available for students receiving Financial
Aid?
No. Anyone with a valid UTB/TSC ID card is eligible for the new Sting
Card, and anyone can have their Wells Fargo account tied to their Sting
Card.

- How much do I need to open an account?
After January 1, 2005, all students need to make a minimum deposit of $5.00 to open account.

- Will I still get my Financial Aid even if I don't apply for a Sting Card?
Yes. Whether you get a Sting Card or not, it will not affect your financial aid status. If you do not apply for a Sting Card, you will continue getting your Financial Aid check through the mail.

- Can I choose my own PIN?
Yes. After receiving your new card, you must visit any
Wells Fargo branch to select your new PIN and to activate the card.

Are there any fees associated with the Sting Card or the Wells Fargo
College Checking account?
No. There is no charge for your initial Sting Card, and Wells Fargo does
not charge a monthly fee for the College Checking Account.

- Do I need to keep a minimum balance?
Yes, an opening balance of $5.00 is required, but any positive balance will keep an account open and active. Any account with a $0 or negative balance for more than 90 days will be subject to close.

- Will I be charged for telephone banking assistance?
If you use the local phone number (956) 548-6212, you will not be charged. However, if you use the Wells Fargo customer service (800) 869-3557 you may be charged a $2.00 “Banker Assistance” fee if you do not maintain a $300.00 minimum balance.

Yes.

- What should I do if my Sting Card is lost or stolen?
You should either visit a local Wells Fargo branch or contact Wells Fargo customer service (800) 869-3557 to report a lost or stolen card. You should also visit the UTB/TSC Library as soon as possible to get a new card. A $10.00 fee applies for lost or stolen card replacement.
