What is the Sting Card?
The Sting Card is your Student ID card which also serves as your library card.

- How do I enhance my Sting Card?
By opening a free Wells Fargo College Checking account and linking it to your Sting Card. Your enhanced card will be pin-based and may be used on and off campus where ATM/PIN-based debit cards are accepted. In addition, you may direct deposit your financial aid, scholarship funds, and your UTB/TSC payroll funds, making it convenient and safe.

- What if I already have an existing Wells Fargo account?
Simply visit Wells Fargo on campus on Wednesday at Tandy 108 or at any Brownsville Wells Fargo locations and ask a banker to link your card. Included in your free college checking account is free online banking services.

- What documents do I need to open an account?
You will need to bring two forms of identification. (1) State Driver’s License or State ID and (2) Social Security Card, Valid Credit Card, Military ID, Passport, Matricula Consular, existing student ID or resident alien card.

- How can I apply for an account?
You can apply for an account on campus on Wednesdays at Tandy 108, visit any Brownsville Wells Fargo location, or by calling Wells Fargo at (956) 547-1604 or (956) 548-6212.

- How much money do I need to open an account?
You will need an initial deposit of $5.00 or more to open an account.

- Where can I use the card?
You can use your enhanced Sting Card at any place of business that accepts PIN-based transactions. For example, Wal-Mart, H.E.B., Target, Barnes and Noble, and Whataburger.

- How can I get my financial aid or UTB/TSC payroll faster?
By signing up for electronic deposit, your financial aid and/or UTB/TSC payroll funds will be sent directly to your free Wells Fargo College Checking account. Thus, no more waiting in line to get your check or to cash your check.

- Is the Sting Card only available for students receiving Financial Aid?
No. Anyone with a valid UTB/TSC ID card is eligible for an enhanced Sting Card, including staff and faculty.

- Will I still get my Financial Aid even if I don't apply for an enhanced Sting Card?
Yes. Your decision will not impact your financial aid status.

- Can I choose my own PIN?
Yes. When you link your card, you will be asked to select a four digit pin. This pin is your confidential code to utilize your enhanced Sting Card. You may also change your pin at any time.

- Are there any fees associated with the Sting Card or the free Wells Fargo College Checking account?
No.

- Do I need to keep a minimum balance?
Even though, there is no minimum dollar balance required, having an account with a zero or negative balance will cause your account to close. it is recommended that you maintain a balance of any dollar amount.

- Will I be charged for telephone banking assistance?
There is no fee if you contact any of the Wells Fargo directly at (956) 547-1604 or (956) 548-6212. However, if you use the Wells Fargo customer service at (800) 869-3557, you may be charged a $2.00 “Banker Assistance Fee".

- Can I access my account online?
Yes, with your free Wells Fargo College Checking account, you receive free online banking services. Visit Wells Fargo at http://www.wellsfargo.com/

- What should I do if my Sting Card is lost or stolen?
You should immediately contact Wells Fargo customer service at (800) 869-3557 or visit a Wells Fargo branch to report a lost or stolen card. You should also visit the UTB/TSC Library as soon as possible to get a new card. A $10.00 fee applies for lost or stolen card replacement.
